Two international collaborations for ARI

Universiti Teknologi MARA through the Accounting Research Institute (ARI) signs two memorandum of understanding (MOUs) with (i) University of Tunis and (ii) Tunisia Institute of Islamic Finance (TAIF).
The MOU with the University of Tunis signifies international recognition of ARI expertise as severall ARI research fellows have been appointed as international supervisors for several PhD students in the university, Meanwhile, TAIF is interested to set up Islamic Microfinance projects in Tunisia which is similar to ARI's microfinance project with Mydin and AIM in Tanjung Karang. Prof Dr Normah and Prof Dr Rashidah from ARI were invited by the two agencies to share their expertise in Tunis.

Driving a Research Niche in Islamic Financial Criminology

As a HICoE, the Accounting Research Institute focuses on a niche research area in Islamic Financial Criminology (IFC). In essence, IFC can be further subdivided into two research thrusts: Islamic Accounting & Muamalat and Financial Criminology. Though each research area can stand on its own, IFC aspires to support Malaysia's vision of becoming a leading and global Islamic Finance hub. Through basic and applied research, IFC integrates useful Islamic principles and concepts in achieving potential deliverables such as:
1. New Research Products in Islamic Accounting & Muamalat
2. New Research Products in Islamic Finance and Investment
3. New policy/framework in Financial Criminology
4. Integrating Islamic Principles to mitigate financial fraud
5. Developing Financial Fraud Indicators and Typologies
6. NPO Governance, AML/CFT and Corporate Integrity
